Morse Code (ITU)
This album of digital flashcards and quiz makes easy to memorise Morse code — old system of encoding messages that is used to send telegraphic information using just two types of signal: short and long.
Designed in XIX century, Morse code is still used on ships (using lights), by amateur radio operators and aviators. Sending a SOS (“save our souls”) distress signal is the famous use of this encoding.
Due to its binary nature, Morse code can be transmitted over a wide variety of communication media. This makes it a universal way to convey alphanumeric information. Today, knowledge of Morse code is not required of all military personnel, but is still recommended for mariners and aviators.
